You know those chills that go through your body when you experience something powerful? That’s what I felt upon reading the title of the admirable Stella Marr’s latest blog post, Our Bonds Are Just Too Strong For You, and seeing its accompanying picture.
Shortly into the post I was disturbed to learn that Stella was recently subjected to some smear-campaigning, viciousness and personal attacking by the commercial rape industry’s apologists and profiteers. Such going-for-the-jugular tactics are unfortunately widely used as a last and only resort by those in the wrong simply because they have nothing to say that justifies their harmful and intellectually lazy stances. We see such jugular attacking in mainstream politics all the time.
I’m with Free Irish Woman, who in response to the attacks on Stella, said this:
Any person with an iota of decency though, will care very much about Stella and all the other women out there like her, who she speaks for, at very great personal cost. These people are simply not going to buy this BS, and the fifty women, myself included, who make up the membership of Survivors Connect Network are certainly not going to buy it.
So, to those who’ve circulated this latest round of rumours: you need to know that you are never going to destroy survivor solidarity by spreading lies, because, like the title of this post says, our bonds are just too strong for you. And your hatred is so indicative of your own fear that after all the resentments it naturally causes have washed away, the last thing it will do is make us smile, because of how clearly it speaks to your fear of our collective voice. [The rest of this brilliant post here]
I don’t want to know, and will not seek out the personal, private details of anyone if they don’t want to share them, and so whatever smear campaigns that go on revealing such details, whether they’re truth or lies, does not interest or sway me and other half-thinking people when we listen to the important truths about porn and prostitution that exited women tell, because they are the real experts of this issue!
I stand with these women in solidarity and urge you to too. These women are the wind beneath Feminist wings, a real inspiration on how to connect with like-others, gather strength from eachother, and unleash collective HELL to incite change while at the same time helping and healing eachother. United you stand strong! And as a quote I recently saw says, “Let Your Haters Be Your Motivators!”
Go here to check out this powerful sisterhood and their searing, truth-telling blogs. Also, check out the mighty sisterhood of AWAN, the Aboriginal Women’s Action Network, who Stella says inspired her own work. May all these women’s strength, solidarity and important work inspire you too to come together with others in your own community to work for the Change you want to see.
I’ll leave you with this video about the soon-to-be-published book called Soul Destruction about prostitution written by Ruth Jacobs (also check out her blog):
